HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM ON HEPATITIS AND PREVENTIVE MESSURES

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing organized health awareness program on hepatitis  and preventive measures among patients & care taker on 15th November 2018 in KLE Dr. Prabhakar kore Charitable hospital & MRC Belagavi. Faculty from the Medical Surgical Nursing department and M. Sc. 2nd year students gave  health awareness programme on hepatitis – regarding causes, signs and symptoms, diagnosis and its management & its prevention. Total forty patients & care takers were benefited from the Awareness Program.

CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION ON  RECENT ADVANCEMENT & MANAGEMENT OF ORTHOPEDIC CONDITIONS

KAHER, Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi, Department of Medical    Surgical Nursing organized one day Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) programme on “Recent Advancement & Management of Orthopedic Conditions” on 24th April 2108 at seminar hall. Chief Guest and guest speaker of the function was Dr. Satish Nesari Asst. Professor, Department of Orthopedics, BIMS, Belagavi. Dr. Satish Nesari Inaugurated the function and delivered the lecture on Deformity Correction and Limb Lengthening by Ilizarov techniques in Orthopedics. Dr. Praveenkumar Khot consultant Orthopedics, Venugram Hospital Belagavi, delivered the lecture on Minimally Invasive Surgery- Arthoscopy. Dr. Sameer Haveri Consultant Orthopedics, KLES Dr. Prabhkar Kore Hospital & MRC, Belagavi gave a lecture on Knee Orthoplasty and Mr. Harish D, Senior Tutor delivered lecture on Nursing interventions on management of Orthopedic conditions.  Mrs. Sheela Nirwani, Senior Tutor, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi gave introduction on Recent Advancement & Management of Orthopedic Conditions   Mrs. Preeti Bhupali, HOD and Faculty of Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Science Belagavi, were present during the function.  Around 219 students and  staff Nurses from different Nursing Colleges and Hospitals were benefited from Continuing Nursing Education (CNE).

HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM ON FIRST AID MANAGEMENT ON SEIZURES

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing organized Health Awareness Program on First Aid Management on Seizures on 12th January 2018 for the school teacher’s at M.L.A Model Kannada higher primary school, Mahantesh Nagar,Belagavi. Faculty from the Medical Surgical Nursing Department has given Health Awareness Programme on First Aid Management of Seizures – Causes, Signs and Symptoms and its Management to the school teacher’s. 15 school teacher’s were benefited from the Health Awareness Program.

HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM ON ANAEMIA

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing organised Awareness Program on Anaemia on 2ndNovember 2017 for 9th& 10th class students at Shri. Sidrameshwar High School, Nehru nagar,Belagavi. Faculty from the Medical Surgical Nursing department given awareness programme on Anaemia – causes, signs and symptoms, diagnosis and its management, prevention. Eighty School students were benefited from the Awareness Program.

HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM ONWORM INFESTATION

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing organised Awareness Program on Worm infestation on 8th November 2017 for 4th&5th class students at Shri. Sidrameshwar Primary   School, Nehrunagar,Belagavi. Faculty from the Medical Surgical Nursing department given awareness programme on Worm infestation – causes, signs and symptoms, diagnosis and its management, prevention. NinetySchool students were benefited from the Awareness Program.

Guest Lecture on Blood Transfusion 

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi Organized Guest Lecture on “Blood Transfusion” on 2nd June 2017. The guest speaker was Mr. Ashok Badami, Patron Indian Red Cross Society, Belagavi Branch. Guest speaker gave a lecture on indications, contraindications, Nurses responsibilities during blood transfusion and importance of blood donation.   M. Sc. Nursing, 2nd year GNM, 2nd year B. Sc. Nursing students and all the faculties of Medical Surgical Nursing department were present during the guest lecture.


HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME AND POSTER EXHIBITION ON “MALARIA”

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi Organized Health Awareness Programme and Poster Exhibition on “Malaria” in Rukmini Nagar Belagavi on 21st October 2016. Nursing students exhibited the posters and educated the Rukmini Nagar public regarding Malaria disease, its sings & symptoms, preventive measures and treatment. All the faculties of Medical Surgical Nursing Department were present during the programme.  Around 150 number of people benefited by this programme.

Guest Lecture on “World Sight Day”

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi Organized Guest Lecture on “World Sight Day” on 17th October 2016. The guest speaker was Dr. Joytsna Nandipati Consultant. Dr. Joshi Hospital, Hubballi.  Second year GNM, 3rd year B. Sc. Nursing students and all the faculties of Medical Surgical Nursing department were present during the guest lecture.

HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME AND POSTER EXHIBITION ON “WORLD HEART DAY”

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi Organized Health Awareness Programme and Poster Exhibition on “world heart day” in Rukmini Nagar Belagavi on 29th September 2016. Nursing students exhibited the posters and educated the public of  Rukmini Nagar regarding heart disease, signs & symptoms, preventive measures and treatment. All the faculties of Medical Surgical Nursing Department were present during the programme. Around 50 number of people benefited by this programme.

Guest Lecture on CABG, A Nursing Prospective

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi organized Guest Lecture on “CABG, A Nursing Prospective” on 28th September 2016. The guest speaker was Prof. Abhaykumar S. Gayakwad, Gulabrao Patil College of Nursing, Miraj, Maharashtra.  Second year GNM, 2nd  year B. Sc. Nursing students and all the faculties of Medical Surgical Nursing department were present during the guest lecture.

HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME AND POSTER EXHIBITION ON “WORM INFESTATIONS”

Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi Organized Health Awareness Programme and Poster Exhibition on “Worm Infestations” among school children at Government Primary School, Rukmini Nagar Belagavi on 19th September 2016. Second Year B. Sc. Nursing students exhibited the posters and educated the school children regarding Worm Infestations its types, spread, sings & symptoms, preventive mesures and treatment. All the faculties of Medical Sirgical Nursing Department were present during the programme.  One Hundred students were benefited by the  programme.

The department of Medical Surgical nursing is concerned with the care of patients in a broad range of settings that aims to excel in preparing nurses to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses in providing Evidence Based promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services to the patients in all the settings of health care delivery system.

The strategic goals focus on workplace advocacy; evidence-based practice, research and knowledge; professional development; national leadership and influence; and organizational health.

The students have a tremendous advantage due to their association with the KLE Society’s Dr.Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital and the KLE Society’s Dr.Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Medical Research Center with its numerous specialty and super-specialty departments. The department is dedicated to the preparation of nurses for practice of medical surgical nursing with compassion in a variety of health care settings like, inpatient clinics, emergency departments, outpatient surgical centers, Operation Theaters, Intensive Care Units, administration, home health care, humanitarian relief work, ambulatory surgical care, and skilled nursing homes. The students are also taught to develop skills in handling life threatening situations.  They are taught to independently handle sophisticated equipment such as ECG machines, Ventilators, Defibrillators and other apparatus used in Critical Care Units.
