AWARENESS PROGRAM ON RABIES & ITS PREVENTION

KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi Department of Community Health Nursing conducted awareness program on Rabies & its prevention, Rabies is a fatal condition but it is preventable by vaccination. Post-exposure treatment is extremely effective at preventing rabies after being bitten when started promptly. Once clinical rabies develops & it is almost always fatal. Performed roleplay in high for school students at Vantamuri village, Belagavi on 31-11-2023.

WORLD BREASTFEEDING AWARENESS WEEK (05/08/2023)

KAHAR INS Department of Community Health Nursing along with Child Health Nursing Department & NSS Unit-4 Observed World Breastfeeding Awareness week at Kakati Village, by distributing caps for kids, new born babies sox & baby shower for pregnant mothers with fruits & flowers. NSS volunteers performed role play on proper techniques and advantages of Breast Feeding. Chief guest for the program, Smt.Sumitra D.B, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Belagavi rural, Faculties & students from KAHER INS witnessed the program on 05-08-2023.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION (03/06/2023)

Department Community Health Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi in collaboration with NSS unit-4 organized a rally on “Protection of environment”, Nukkadnatak on “The importance of environmental sanitation” and Tree plantation programme at Gajapati village on the eve of World Environment Day 2023 on 3/6/2023. A range of 50 plants were planted in the village to create an awareness about saving trees. NSS volunteers, Community department faculties of KAHER INS, students and teachers of Government primary school Gajapati had participated in the event.

General population and Government school children of Gajapati village were benefited from the programme.

REPORT ON INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY (12/05/2023)

KAHER, Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi celebrated International Nurses day on 12th May 2023, On the same day in the morning, Blood donation camp was held which was organised by Youth Red Cross Wing on the theme “Our nurses, Our future” and “Donate blood, save lives” at 10 am in the Fundamental Nursing Lab, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi and a lot of faculties and students came forward and donated blood.

The programme was followed by the formal function organised by KAHER, Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi which was held in the Seminar hall to celebrate the International Nurses Day 2023 at 3pm.

The event was hosted by Ms. Aarya and Ms. Rajani. They gave a warm welcome to Principal Dr. Veereshkumar Nandgaon, Vice principal Dr. Sangeeta Kharde, Dean Dr Preeti Bhupali and the Chief Guests for the event were Mrs Shreya H. and M.r Chandrakant Nursing superintendents of KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and MRC, Belagavi. Teaching, non teaching staff and students were present for the occasion. The event started with a welcome song sung by B.Sc 1st year students followed by offering flowers to honour Florence Nightingale and two staff nurses from the hospital and two faculty from KAHER, INS were felicitated for their contribution towards the nursing profession.

The principal Dr. Veereshkumar Nandgaon enlightened the occasion by briefing about the theme, ‘Our Nurses Our Future. Prize distribution was done for the students who were winners for the competitions held on the occasion of International Nurses Day.

REPORT ON NURSES WEEK CELEBRATION (09/05/2023, 11/05/2023 & 12/05/2023)

KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi celebrated Nurses week on 9th, 11th and 12th May 2023, with full enthusiasm and all the students participated actively in the celebrations.

The celebration was guarded by the presence of the SNA advisors, office bearers and students. The function started at 5:30 pm. The MOC’s for the event Ms. Stacia, Ms. Vanessa, Ms. Loria, Ms. Anisha and Ms. Aleta who welcomed everyone gathered for the event.

The programme started on 9th May 2023 the theme decided was “mismatch day”, all the students dressed accordingly and had a lot of fun.

Adding to the event without wasting any time competitions were organised for all the students, competitions like fireless cooking, painting competitions, mehandi, videography, fashion show and essay writing. All the students actively participated with lot of energy and enthusiasm. Everyone had a lot of fun at the end of the event.

Prizes were awarded to the winners and spot prizes were held also music was played and all the students danced joyfully. The event was a grand success.

On 11th May 2023 the theme decided was “Bollywood day”. All the students dressed in different attire and everyone participated with full enthusiasm in all the activities such as flash mob, solo and group dance, solo singing, fashion show and games like musical chair, lemon and spoon and many more.

On 12th May 2023 Blood donation camp was held which was organised by Youth Red Cross Wing at 10am in the Fundamental Nursing Lab, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi and a lot of faculties and students came forward to donate blood which was followed by the formal function was held in the Seminar hall to celebrate the occasion on International Nurses Day 2023.

Department of Community Health Nursing along with Alumni Association of KLEU’s Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi organized an Alumni Guest lecture on “sustainable development goals” at KLE University’s Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi on 27 February 2023 from 10 am to 11.30 am by Dr. Iranna Kajgar Principal KLEs Institute of Nursing Sciences, Gokak, Belagavi. Guest speaker spoke on What is Sustainable Development Goals, dimensions Structure of goals, targets and indicators aims to transform our world, they are a call to action to end poverty and inequality, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy health, justice and prosperity etc.. After the lecture, the forum was open for all to clear their doubts.

The lecture was attended by all faculty Final year Nursing students of KAHER Institute if Nursing Sciences Belagavi. The participants were 150. Programme came to end By Vote of thanks given by Mr. Arjun Arer, Senior tutor, Department of Community Health Nursing.

POSHAN ABHIYAN PROGRAMME (22/09/2022)

NSS Unit-4 in collaboration with Department of Community Health nursing of KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi and Sub-center Kakati conducted Poshan Abhiyan program at primary school, Kakati Village Belagavi on 22/9/2022 to create awareness regarding Importance of Nutrition and how to Prevent and reduce under-nutrition (underweight prevalence) in children (0-6 years) Reduce the prevalence of anemia among young Children, Reduce the prevalence of anemia among Women and Adolescent Girls in the age group of 15-49 years and reduce Low Birth Weight etc… Dr. Anjali Joshi, Senior Medical Officer department of OBG, KLE’s Dr. Prabhakar kore Hospital & Medical Research Centre Belagavi Delivered the health talk. NSS volunteers from KAHER INS participated in different types food exhibition and celebrated baby shower for Antenatal Mothers (By filling the lap with sweets and fruits) Mrs. Namrata Devulkar NSS Programme Officer and Departmental staffs From KAHER INS and Child Development project officer (CDPO), ZP Officer, Taluk and Zilla Panchayat members and Ms. Ashwini Jadhav CHO were present during the programme. On the occasion of World Rabies Day, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences Dept of Community health nursing organised health awareness programme at Primary and higher secondary School ,Vantamuri Belagavi.

It is celebrated every year on 28th September also marks the anniversary of Louis Pasteur’s death, who developed the first efficacious rabies vaccine. World Rabies Day aims to raise awareness about the impact of rabies on humans and animals, provide information & advice on how to prevent the disease in at-risk communities & support advocacy for increased efforts in rabies control.

PROTECT BREASTFEEDING: A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY

World breast feeding week is an annual celebration which is held from 1-7th August, the theme this year is “Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility”. On this occasion , KAHER INS, Department of Community Health Nursing organized health education program to encourage and explain the importance of breast feeding along with distribution of baby clothes to the mothers at the Central bus stand, Belagavi.

More than 28 mothers benefited from this programme.

REPORT OF CNE ON “CHALLENGES IN MANAGEMENT OF LIFESTYLE DISORDERS” (27/11/2019)

Department of Community Health Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi had organized a CNE on “Challenges in management of lifestyle disorders” at Seminar Hall on 27 th November 2019 with the objectives to sensitize and enhance the capacity of nursing students/ nurses in the management of lifestyle disorders.

The program began with first session at 9:30-10:30am, Mrs. Namrata Devulkar, Asst. Prof.& HOD, Department of Community Health Nursing spoke on Introduction/Overview of Lifestyle Disorders.

Inaugural function started at 10:35 am. The dignitaries present were Swami Mokshatmanandaji Maharaj, Ramkrishna Mission Ashrama, Belagavi, Prof. Dr. Sudha A Raddi Principal KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi, Mrs.Namrata Devulkar, Asst. Prof.& HOD, Mr. Shivrajkumar Dandagi, Asst. Professor, Mr. Sanjeev Badli Senior Tutor, Mr. Bhairgouda Patil Senior Tutor, Mr. Arjun Arer Senior Tutor, Mrs. Chandbee Junior Tutor, Ms. Vidyashree K Junior Tutor, Ms. Meghana D Junior Tutor.

Program began with invocation song followed by introduction and welcome speech by Mr. Shivarajkumar Dandagi Asst. Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing. The programme was inaugurated by watering a plant by the dignitaries. Chief Guest Swami Mokshatmanandaji Maharaj and guest of honour addressed the gathering. Prof. Dr. Sudha A Raddi gave the presidential remarks of the function. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Bhairgouda Patil Senior Tutor, Department of Community Health Nursing. KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi. Participants of the CNE were around 180 & were from BIMS Govt, School of Nursing, Belagavi, Vijaya School of Nursing, Belagavi and KAHER Institute of Nursing Science Belagavi.

Next session started at 11.00am. Swami Mokshatmanandaji Maharaj Ramkrishna Mission Ashrama, Belagavi, spoke on “Building a Positive Personality” followed by “Designing, Monitoring, Implementing & Evaluating Health Promotion Programmes” by Mr. Sanjeev Badli Senior Tutor, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi.

Lunch facility was arranged to all the dignitaries, Teachers and Students by Department of Community Health Nursing. Post lunch session was on “Health Promotion Strategies” by Mr. Shivrajkumar Dandagi, Asst. Professor Dept. of Community Health Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, followed by “Role of Diet, Yoga & Nutrition in Management of Life Style

Disorders” by Dr. Sanjeev Tonni Asso Prof, dept of Swasthavritta & Yoga KAHER Shri. BMK Ayurvedha Mahavidyalay, Belagavi also they took a practical class on how to practice yoga and shown us the basic yoga types with help of their

students

The participants were allowed to interact and give feedback about the day. CNE came to an end by valedictory function after the distribution of the certificates.

Department of Community Heath Nursing in collaboration with District Health & Family Welfare Department Belagavi Conducted Pulse Polio Programme from 10th March to13th March 2019. 39 Final year B.Sc Nursing students were participated in the programme.

Students were placed in Rukmininagar, Ramnagar, Ashoknagar Muthyanatti & Bus-stand.

HEALTH CHECK-UP CAMP FOR ANTENATAL MOTHERS (18/03/2019)

Department of Community Health Nursing, KAHER, INS organised a Health Check-up camp for Antenatal Mothers at Kinaye PHC Belagavi on 18TH March 2019. Department of community Heath nursing in collaboration with PHC Kinaye carried out the Antenatal health check-up camp. Total 18 Antenatal Mothers were screened, of which 08 had Mild Anaemia (10Hb %), 01 High Risk case detected (short Stretch) & 09 cases were normal

Beneficiaries: 18 Antenatal Mothers were benefited by the programme.

GUEST LECTURE ON “ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE: ATTITUDE OF YOUTH” (23/04/2016)

The Department of Community Health Nursing, KLEU Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi, had organized a Guest Lecture on “Alcohol and Drug Abuse: Attitude of Youth” for the Nursing Students of KLEU Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi on 23rd April 2016.

The Expert Lecture was delivered by Dr.Shobha Karikatti, Associate professor, Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences, Belagavi. After the lecture the forum was open for queries to clear their doubts. Total 120 Nursing Students were benefited by the guest lecture.

All the faculty of Department of Community Health Nursing along with B. Sc (N) 2nd year, and P. B. B. Sc (N) 2nd year students were participated in this program.

Assessment of Malnutrition Among Ganwadi Children in Vantmuri

As a part of NSS (National Service Scheme) Program, Dept. of Community Health Nursing conducted Malnutrition Survey Program for Anganwadi Children in Vantmuri Village on 21-09-2017. Total 122 children were surveyed and basic parameters like height, weight and mid-arm circumference (MUAC) was assessed.

Out of 122 children who were surveyed, only 4 of them were found to have moderate malnutrition where MUAC calculated was less than 11 cms. Total 5 Anganwadis were there in the village. No children were reported with severe malnutrition.

The department of Community health nursing is enthusiastic to provide quality education to students in graduation and post graduation level, under the supervision of excellent faculty. Moreover, the department takes great interest in conducting public health research and community welfare programmes. The department has promised to facilitate both professional and personal growth in the students and the faculty by encouraging and supporting their participation in continuing educational activities.

Laboratory facilities-

The department has a fully equipped community health laboratory which accommodates 50 students at a time. This is used for the preparing for the activities during the field visit and to train students.

External Posting: Students are also posted to PHC, CHC and various sub centres for observation and regular posting.

Community health activities: Regular home visits, Health need assessment, Family coping, Health Awareness and activities concerned with public interest and also social activities.

REPORT OF AWARENESS PROGRAM ON “GERIATRIC HEALTH PROBLEMS & MANAGEMENT” (05/06/2017)

KLEU’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Department of Community Health Nursing had organized a health awareness programme on the occasion of world Environmental day at Ramnagar on 5th June 2017. Trees were planted in the premises of Government Kannada, Marati & Urdu Primary School, Ram Nagar, Belagavi.

Beneficiaries: 80 Kannada Marathi & Urdu Primary School Children’s

Department of Community Health Nursing had organized and conducted Health education program on Geriatric Health Problems & its management in Shantai Old age home Belagavi on 24th March 2017.

Awareness programme was organized with the help of manager- Shantai Oldage home & Final year PBBSc (N) students & departmental staff of Community Health Nursing in order to create awareness among the geriatric people regarding health problems & its management, importance of exercise, sleeping pattern, increased risk of falls, depression and an impaired immune system, dietary management etc…

Beneficiaries: 37 Geriatric People were benefited by the programme.

REPORT OF AWARENESS PROGRAM ON “THE OCCASION OF WORLD WATER DAY” (22/03/2017)

Department of Community Health Nursing had organized and conducted Health education program on the occasion of world Water day in Ranakundaye village Belagavi on 22nd March 2017.

Rally & water awareness programme was organized with the help of Govt. Primary Marti School Ranakundaye village in order to create awareness among the villagers regarding importance of water, its utilization, storage and about rain water harvesting.

Health education programme was organized in the Govt. Primary Marti School Ranakundaye by 2nd year PBBBSc Nursing students and staff Department of Community Health Nursing with the help of A.V.AIDS. Snacks were distributed to students.

Beneficiaries: 90 school students and more than 100 villagers.

CNE ON “NON COMMUNICABLE DISEASES – APPROACHES & PREVENTION” (17/02/2017)

A one day CNE (Continuing Nursing Education) on “Non Communicable Diseases – Approaches & Prevention” was organized by Department of Community Health Nursing, KLEU Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi on 17th February, 2017.

The Objective of this CNE was to sensitize students regarding the burden of Non Communicable Diseases, the risk factors associated, approaches and methods to prevent these diseases in the community by proper health education to the people.

The program began with inaugural function at 10:00 am. The CNE was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Chief Guest Dr.R.G.Viveki, Professor & HOD, Community Medicine, BIMS, Belagavi & Prof.Dr.Sudha A.Raddi, Dean & Principal, KLEU INS, Belagavi. Mrs.Namrata Devulkar welcomed the guests which was followed by lectures. The Resource Persons for the CNE were Dr.R.G.Viveki, Professor & HOD, Community Medicine, BIMS, Belagavi, Mr.Shivarajkumar.Dandagi, Asst.Prof & HOD, Community Health Nursing, Mrs.Namrata Devulkar, Asst. Professor, Mr.Laxmikanth Bhangennavar, Sr.Tutor & Mr.Sanjeev Badli, Sr.Tutor. Prof.Dr.Sudha A.Raddi gave the presidential remarks. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr.Shivaprasad Kamat, Jr.Tutor.

Total 180 delegates, students, faculty from BIMS College of Nursing, KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Ankola & KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi participated in the CNE.

HEALTH CHECK-UP CAMP FOR ANTENATAL MOTHERS (17/10/2016)

NSS unit of KLEU’s Institute of Nursing Sciences along with Department of Community Health Nursing organised a Health Check-up camp for Antenatal Mothers at Ashok Nagar UHC Belagavi on 17th October 2016. Department of community Heath nursing in collaboration with UHC Ashok Nagar carried out the general health check-up camp. Total 24 Antenatal Mothers were screened, of which 13 had Mild Anaemia (10Hb %), Moderate 10 (8Hb %), Severe 01 (Below 6Hb %), & 01 High Risk case detected (short Stretch).

Health education was given by final year BSc Nursing students & Staffs from department of community health nursing on importance of maintaining good health, Diet, breastfeeding techniques etc.. After the programme forum was open for discussion.Medicines were given to those who were sick. Fruits were distributed after the examination.
