REPORT OF AWARENESS PROGRAM ON “PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT OF POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME (PCOS) AMONG ADOLESCENT GIRLS” (16/12/2022)
Department of OBG Nursing along with NSS Unit-IV, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi conducted an awareness program on “Prevention and management of PCOS” among Adolescent girls of Government High School, Honaga on 16th December 2022.
Mrs. H. Gineta Chanu and Mrs. Shweta Dandagi, Faculty of Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER INS imparted education on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS): definition, incidence, risk factor, signs and symptoms, preventive measures, home remedies, medical management and complications of PCOS.
Total 76 adolescent girls benefited from the event. After the programme, students with various menstrual issues clarified their doubt.

REPORT OF SENSITIZATION PROGRAM ON PREECLAMPSIA AND ECLAMPSIA
Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi organized sensitization program on the topic “Early detection and prevention of Preeclampsia and Eclampsia” for the nursing officers working in Labour room and Maternity ward of Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital, Belagavi. The program was held on 15th December 2022.
The topics included are definition of eclampsia and preeclampsia, signs and symptoms, complications, warning or alarming signs, first aid in case of eclampsia outside the hospital and management at hospital.
Total of 27 Nursing officers attended the program and benefitted with this event. Faculty from Dept. of OBG nursing participated actively in organizing this event.
REPORT OF AWARENESS PROGRAM ON MENSTRUAL ISSUES AND MENSTRUAL HYGIENE
Department of OBG Nursing, Institute of Nursing Sciences, KAHER, Belagavi organized awareness program on “Menstrual Issues and Menstrual Hygiene” on 30th September 2022 at KLEs International School Belagavi.
Awareness was given by Mrs. Shubharani Muragod, Asst Prof, Dept of OBG Nursing KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi. Dr. Sangeeta Kharde Vice- Principle & HOD Dept. of OBG Nursing Belagavi, Mrs. Asha Bhat Assot Prof, Mrs. Nirmala F, Mrs. Uma Kole, Asst Prof and Mrs Babita Patil Senior Tutor were present in the event.
Topics covered are pubertal changes, menstrual cycle, its symptoms, myths related to menstrual cycle and menstrual hygiene. Total 68 students of 7th and 8th standard were the beneficiaries of the event and students clarified their doubts by the end of the event.
INTERNATIONAL MIDWIVES DAY
On account of “International Midwives Day” KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, OBGDepartment conducted sensitization program for ASHA workers on Respectful Maternity Care and unfolded the theme in PHC, Kinye on 16th of April 2022 from 10.00pm onwards. Total beneficiaries were 75 ASHA workers.
REPORT OF WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK 2022 CELEBRATION
Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi in distributed newborn baby clothes to the postnatal mothers on the occasion of 75th Birthday of Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr. Prabhakar Kore Ji, KAHER Belagavi and “World Breast feeding week 2022” on 01st August 2022 at KLE’s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital Belagavi.
The event celebrated at the postnatal ward and labour room of the hospital which was followed by health education regarding breast feeding techniques, position and advantages to new born baby and mother.
Dr. Sudha Raddi, Principal, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, Dr. Sangeeta Kharde, Vice Principal & HOD, Dept. of OBG Nursing, KAHER INS, and other all department faculty are the part of the event.
The in-charges and staffs of maternity ward and labour room are actively participated in the programme. Total 75 postnatal mothers with their newborn are the beneficiaries of the event.
REPORT OF COMPLEMENTARY FOOD COOKING COMPETITION
Department of OBG Nursing and Child health Nursing in association with IAP Belgaum Branch organized complementary food cooking competition on 10th June 2022 on the occasion of Complementary Feeding Week 2022 for Nursing students.Complementary Food is any food or liquid other than breast milk which complements the breast feeding.
Total 10 students participated and 16 recipes were prepared. The competition was judged by Dr. SudhaRaddi, Principal, KAHER INS, Dr. RenuPattanshetti, Professor, KAHER IPT, Dr. MeenakshiMastiholi, Professor, KAHER COP, Belagavi. All students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the competition. Head of the department from OBG Nursing and Child Health Nursing and other faculty were present and motivated the students.
REPORT OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE MIDWIVES CELEBRATION
Department of OBG Nursing along with Department of Nursing Education (DONE), KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi in collaboration with Indian Nursing Council and Maternity Foundation, India celebrated “International Day of the Midwives” on 05th May 2022 at KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi.
The event started by introducing Safe Delivery App for students group. Dr (Prof).Sudha Raddi, Principal, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi welcomed the guest speakers and revealed the objectives for the event. Dr Tarun Singh, Country Director, Maternity Foundation, India briefed regarding the Safe Delivery App and its uses. Mrs. Bright Mary, Clinical Advisor, Maternity Foundation, India explained the integration of SDA as a mandatory module in B.Sc Nursing curriculum and how the app works. Dr. Aditya Bhandari, Senior Program Officer, Maternity Foundation, India, demonstrated downloading and use of the Safe delivery app.
Mrs. Nirmala D’souza, Asst prof, Dept of OBG Nursing moderated the sessions. Mrs. Shubharani Muragod, Mrs. Gineta C, Asst Prof, Mrs. Shweta D, Mrs. Babita Patil, Senior Tutor, Dept of OBG Nursing, Mr. Gavi Salimath, HOD Dept of Child Health Nursing along with their faculties Mr.Umesh N and Mr. Jagadeesh Hubballi, Asst Prof, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi participated in the event. The principals, faculties and students from 5 KLE sister institutions from Hubli, Ankola, Dandeli, Yellur and Gokak also participated in the event virtually.
A total of 500 UG and PG students were the beneficiaries of the event and clarified their doubts.
REPORT ON AWARENESS PROGRAM THROUGH POSTER EXHIBITION ON ANTENATAL CARE
On account of “Safe Motherhood Day”KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, OBG (N)Department conducted Awareness program through Poster exhibition on Antenatal Carein PHC, Rukmini Nagar on 11th of April 2022 from 10.00pm onwards. Total beneficiaries were 35antenatal mothers. Posters were displayed on Antenatal Care, Antenatal Diet, Minor ailments during pregnancy, Exercises, Warning Signs, Planned Parenthood, Breast feeding, Care of Newborn, Family Planning etc.
Along with the departmental faculty Mrs. Uma Kole, Asst. Professor, and Mrs. Shubharani M., Assistant professor, Dept of OBG (N) and III-year GNM students highlighted regarding importance of Antenatal Care, Antenatal Diet, Minor ailments during pregnancy, Exercises, Warning Signs, Planned Parenthood, Breast feeding, Care of Newborn, Family Planning.
BREAST CANCER SCREENING AND AWARENESS PROGRAM
Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi in collaboration with KAHER Cell for women and KLE’s Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women conducted Breast Cancer Screening and awareness program at Nightingale Girls Hostel for the students on 24th March 2022.
REPORT OF GUEST LECTURE
Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi organized online guest lecture on “Fertility and contraceptive updates” on 17th January 2022 at 3.00pm to 4.15 pm through live Go to Meeting.
Guest speaker Dr.Sunil.M.Kulkarni, HOD, Department of community Health Nursing, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be university, college of Nursing, Sangli was the resource person and spoke in detail regarding the fertility, contraceptive updates and services available.
Total 109 students of IV.B.SC, II year B.sc, and 4 OBG Post graduates students and faculty of OBG department attended the guest lecture. Lecture came to an end by clearing the doubts of participants.

NATIONAL E CONFERENCE ON “HOLISTIC APPROACH TO STERNGTHEN QUALITY CARE AT FACILITY LEVEL – LaQshya QUALITY IMPROVEMENT GUIDELINES” (6TH AND 7TH MAY 2021)
Society of midwives India (SOMI) Karnataka Chapter in association with KLE Academy of higher education and Research Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, Karnataka has organized two days National E conference on the occasion of International Day of Midwife 2021. The topic for the conference was “Holistic Approach to Strengthen Quality Care at Facility Level – LaQshya Quality Improvement Guidelines”
The first day of conference started on 6th May 2021 at 9.15 am with welcome address and unfolding the theme of International Day of Midwife by Dr. SudhaRaddi, Principal, KAHER INS, Belagavi. She spoke about importance of midwives and how Govt. of India initiated NPM to strengthen Midwifery in India. Prof. MithaliAdhikari, President, SOMI delivered inaugural address. She insisted midwives to come together to showcase out unity and strength by being independent. Vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Asha Bhat, Secretary, SOMI Karnataka Chapter.
Before the conference session participants are asked to answer the pre-test form. Link was shared in the chat box as well as in the whatsapp group which was created for conference.
The first session started at 10 am with keynote address was delivered by Dr. N Rajkumar, Deputy Director Maternal Health, Govt. of Karnataka. He explained about LaQshya program its initiative, role of midwives and he also spoke about MLCU. This session was moderated by Dr. SudhaRaddi, Principal, KAHER INS, Belagavi
The second session was dealt by Dr. ShivanadMastiholi, Taluka Health Officer, Belagavi. He spoke on Strengthening Documentation Practices. He explained about different types of checklist which is used at LaQshya accredited labour rooms and importance of maintain such documents. This session was moderated by Dr. NilimaBhore, Dean & Principal, BharatiVidyapeeth College of Nursing, Sangli, Maharashtra
The third session was on Triaging , RMC and birth companion. This session was managed by three of the resource people. Triaging was addressed by Ms. PricilaDarbar, Trainee Midwife Educator, Fernandez Hospital, Hyderabad. She discussed in detail about the triaging of pregnant women based on the priority. Respectful Maternity care was dealt by Ms. Amitha Trainee Midwife Educator, Fernandez Hospital, Hyderabad. She described the importance of RMC and shown a video on RMC. Ms. Fatima Juliet discussed about birth companion during labour. The importance of having and allowing the birth companion during labour. This session was moderated by Prof. (Lt.Col) Rekha Rani Gupta, Dean and Principal, People’s College of Nursing, People’s University, Bhopal, MP.
The fourth session was discussed by Dr. HemaPatil, Secretary, FOGSI, Belagavi Division, Associate Professor, Dept. of OBG, JNMC, Belagavi. Dr. HemaPatil explained about Managing labour, AMTSL and use of Uterotonics. She stressed on the importance of maintain partograph. This session was moderated by Mrs. ShubharaniMuragod, Asst. Professor, KAHER INS, Belagavi
The second day of conference was started on 7th May 2021 at 10 am. The first session was taken over by Mrs. JyothiLondhe, Tutor from District Hospital Pune. She spoke about management of complications and strengthening referral services. This session was moderated by Mrs. Uma Kole, Asst. Professor, KAHER INS, Belagavi
The second day second session was taken over by Mrs. Sapna Thakur, Asst. Professor, Govt. College of Nursing, Raipur, Chattisgarh.
She spoke on Emergency care of newborn and pre term from 11.15 am to 12.15 pm. She explained about care of newborn, breast feeding and demonstrated the expression of breast milk if the preterm is getting palleda feed. This session was moderated by Mrs. Asha Bhat, Secretary, SOMI Karnataka Chapter & Asst. Professor, KAHER INS, Belagavi
The last session of the conference was on infection control and biomedical waste management, which was dealt by Mrs. Jyotsna Bag, Teaching faculty, Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital, West Bengal. This session was moderated by Mrs. Navaneeta, Vice Principal, Arogyam College of Nursing, Roorkee, Uttarakhand. Mrs. Jyotsna explained very well about the importance of BMW management and it helps in health promotion.
The conference ended with posttest and feedback of the participants. Total 417 participants registered across India. The participants are from Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Gujarat and Kerala.
REPORT ON SAFE MOTHERHOOD CELEBRATION
Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi in collaboration with Society of Midwifes, India (SOMI) celebrated Safe Motherhood day on 9th April 2021 at Urban Health Centre, Rukmini Nagar, Belagavi. Dr Aniket M, Medical Officer and his staffs participated in the event.
It was celebrated by giving Health awareness on Antenatal Care. Mrs. Shubharani Muragod, Mrs. Nirmala D’souza and Mrs. Uma Kole; Asst Prof , Dept of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi gave lecture on antenatal advices: diet, exercise, visits, immunization, treatment and management of minor disorders of pregnancy at home.
03 UG and 04 PG students were actively involved in the event. Total 66 antenatal mothers participated and got benefits of the event.
REPORT OF HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON BREAST SELF EXAMINATION AND SCREENING CAMP
KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, NSS unit of Department of OBG Nursing, conducted Health Awareness Programme on Breast Cancerand screening camp for class IV workers of hostels and mess located in JNMC Campus in collaboration with KLE’s Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women (WEC)in Akkamahadevi hostel on 11th& 12thFebruary 2021.
Faculty of OBG Nursing Dept. with representatives of WEC explained the Importance of breast self-examination, incidences and risk factors of breast cancer, how to assess symptoms of breast cancer,the importance of regular screening clinically and by self,regular health checkupfollowed by Breast examination screening was done on both the days. Total161class IV workers of various hostel were the beneficiaries, four among them found positive.
GUEST LECTURE ON “ISSUES & CHALLENGES FACED BY HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC" (23rd JANUARY 2021)
Department of OBG Nursing organized guest lecture on “Issues and Challenges Faced by Health Care Providers during COVID-19 Pandemic” on 23rd January 2021. At Seminar hall, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Shivaswamy M. S., Professor & HOD, Community Medicine, J N Medical College, KAHER, Belagavi. Dr. Sangeeta Kharde, Vice Principal and HOD, Department of OBG Nursing welcomed Dr. Shivaswamy.
Sir continued the lecture with little background of the outbreak of novel coronavirus and how whole world had to go under lockdown. Only the health workers (frontline warriors) were 24hours on the toes to protect the Public, Society and Nation. Sir also said about the challenges faced by Hospital, manpower challenges the nursing staffs, doctors, interns were called back to duty who were on leave. Facilities were provided to health care workers to travel during lockdown but again the physical and mental burn out, mental health issues, isolation from family, many staffs had to evacuate the rented house due to stigma. Sir concluded that apart from the violence , health care professionals face multiple other challenges as they deal with this deadly disease. All over the world various steps have been taken by government and organizations to lessen the challenges faced by health care professionals.
REPORT OF RANGOLI COMPETITION ON GENDER EQUALITY
KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, Department of OBG Nursingorganized “Rangoli competition on the theme- Gender Equality” virtually on 19th November 2020 through Gotomeeting app. Total 6 students from different batches of B.Sc Nursing participated the competition. Evaluation was done on the basis of colour combination, overall appearance and appeal, theme, clarity in rangoli art and creativity.The students participated with great enthusiasm and joy. The winners of the competition are:

REPORT OF WEBINAR ON “THE EVE OF WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK 2020" (10th and 11th August 2020)
KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, Department of OBG Nursing in association with Society of Midwives India (SOMI) arranged the virtual webinar on the topic COVID 19 and Breast feeding – Role of Midwives. The webinar was organized in two sessions per day from 10th to 11th August 2020.
The speaker for first session was Dr. Sudha Raddi, Principal, KAHER INS and Former Vice President, SOMI. She spoke on Keynote address- Breast feeding and COVID 19- Scientific Brief. She explained about breast feeding in COVID 19 with the help of WHO decision tree.
The second session was dealt by Mrs. Janifer Baretto, Asst. Professor, BIMS College of Nursing, Belagavi. She has explained about the Guidance for breast feeding women in context with COVID 19 Pandemic. She explained about the guidance of different organization like WHO, CDC, AAP, FOGSI, IAP etc. about breast feeding among women with COVID 19 pandemic.
The third session was by Dr. Roopa M. Bellad, Professor and Consultant, Dept of Pediatrics, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belagavi. She explained about the role of Nurses in strengthening Breast milk bank. She also expressed the challenges faced when a milk bank was started and how to overcome from such challenges.
The fourth session was by Dr. Sabitha Nayak, Vice Principal and Professor, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Deralakatte Mangaluru. She spoke about Midwives Perspectives towards breastfeeding in COVID 19 pandemic. She briefly explained about evidence based best practice for optimizing the breast feeding.
REPORT ON “INTERNATIONAL DAY OF MIDWIVES"
International day of Midwives was observed on 5th May 2020 by Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi in association with Society of Midwives Karnataka Chapter at KAHER INS, Belagavi.
The midwives working in Labour room were appriciated for their work with a handmade greeting card followed by distribution of choclates. A Key message by Dr. Sudha Raddi, Principal, KAHER INS and President, SOMI Karnataka Chapter , Mrs. Asha Bhat, Asst. Professor, KAHER INS and Chapter Secretary, SOMI Karnataka, video clip was released on this occasion.
Dr. Sheela Potadar, LMO, Labour room, Mrs. Mariyamma, Sister Incharge, FLR, Dr, Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital and MRC addressed this occasion. Dr. S.N Kharde, Vice Principal and HOD, Mrs. Shubharani Muragod, Mrs. Shweta Angadi faculty from OBG Nursing department and all staffss from labour room winessed this function.
REPORT ON “SAFE-MOTHERHOOD CELEBRATION"
KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, Department of OBG Nursing celebrated Safe Motherhood day on 13th April 2020 at Maternity and labour wards of KLE’s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital. It was celebrated by giving Health Education on Prevention of Hypothermia and Breastfeeding followed by Newborn Baby Clothes Distribution was done. Dr. Sudha Raddi Principal, KAHER INS, Dr. Sangeeta Kharde, Vice Principal cum HOD, OBG Nursing, KAHER INS, Mrs. Asha Bhat, Mrs. Shubharani Muragod, Mrs. Laxmi Kamat faculty from department of OBG Nursing was present for the celebration. Mr. Praveen, Asst. nursing Superintendent, Mrs. Lalita, Incharge, Maternity ward and Mrs. Bibiyan, In-charge, NICU was present for the programme. Total 10 mothers and their newborns were the beneficiaries.
REPORT OF “HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON BREAST SELF"
Examination and Screening Camp
KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Department of OBG Nursing, conducted Health Awareness Programme on Breast Self Examination and screening camp for school teachers, non teaching staffs and BEd students in Shri Siddrameshwar School and B.Ed College, Nehrunagar, Belagavi on 19th February 2020. The faculty of OBG Nursing Dept explained the Importance of breast self examination, incidences and risk factors of breast cancer, how to assess symptoms of breast cancer,the importance of regular screening clinically and by self ,regular health checkup.Demonstration of breast self examination on dummy and video was shown to the teachers, non teaching staffs and B.Ed students, followed by Breast examination screening.Total 60 women in reproductive age were the beneficiaries.
REPORT OF GUEST LECTURE ON “FAMILY PLANNING COUNSELLING ROLE OF MIDWIFE”
Department of OBG Nursing organized guest lecture on “Family planning counseling- role of Midwife” on 17th January 2020 from 11:00pm to 1:00 pm at Seminar hall, KLEU Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi. Mrs.Shweta Angadi, senior tutor, Dept of OBG (N) welcomed and introduced the guest speaker Dr. Saroj. Tigadi, Principal, District Training centre BIMS, Belagavi.
Speaker delivered the speech on family planning counseling, different methods of family planning, Role of midwife in family planning counseling, qualities of good counselor and importance of counseling in family welfare services. Total 160 students from I & III GNM, and II & IV B.Sc along with all the OBG faculty attended and got benefitted with the guest lecture.
REPORT OF HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “MENSTRUAL HYGIENE”
Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi conducted Health Awareness Programme on “MENSTRUAL HYGIENE” for the girls’ students studying in 7th and 8th standard at Govt. Kannada Medium High School, Kakati, Belagavi on 25.06.2019 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm onwards. Lecture was delivered by Mrs. Shweta Dandagi, Senior Tutor and Mrs. Heikham Gineta Chanu, Senior Tutor of KAHER INS, Belagavi. Health education was delivered regarding menstrual cycle, pre-menstrual symptoms and their management. After the lecture, the forum was open for all to clear their doubts. The total number of beneficiaries was 52.

Dr. Sudha Raddi, Dr. Sangeeta Kharde, Mrs. Asha Bhat and Mrs. Shubharani Muragod were the resource persons for the Workshop. Dr. S. N Kharde welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Laxmi Kamat delivered vote of thanks. Mrs. Babita Patil compared the session.
Total 94 fourth year B.Sc Students and Staff Nurses were delegates for the workshop.

KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, Department of OBG Nursing celebrated Safe Motherhood day on 8 th April 2019 at Maternity and labour wards of KLE’s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital. It was celebrated by giving Health Education on Prevention of Hypothermia and Breastfeeding followed by Newborn Baby Clothes Distribution was done. Dr. Sudha Raddi, Dean, Faculty of Nursing, Principal, KAHER INS, Dr. Sangeeta Kharde, HOD, OBG Nursing, KAHER INS, all departmental faculty, Ms. Saroj Wagmare, Floor Supervisor, Mrs. Kavita Pawar, Maternity Ward Incharge, Mrs. Mariyamma, FLR Incharge, KLE’s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital were present for the programme. B.Sc. Nursing students posted in Maternity ward were actively participated in the program Mrs. Asha Bhat & Mrs. Shweta Angadi gave the health education. Total 58 mothers and their newborns were the beneficiaries.
REPORT ON AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “MENOPAUSE AND ITS MANAGEMENT"
Department of OBG Nursing, Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi conducted awareness programme regarding – “MENOPAUSE AND ITS MANAGEMENT” on the occasion of International Women’s Day at village kangrali Belagavi on 12 March 2019. Females from Shri Dhanashree Mahila Mandal were the beneficiaries. Mrs. Asha Bhat, Asst Prof, Mrs. Uma Kole, Asst Prof Mrs. Babita.B, lecturer and PG students from Department of OBG nursing, delivered the lecture from 12-1pm. Awareness was given on Phases of menopause, how to handle physical and psychological changes, self-management of Menopause. 52 Females from Shri Dhanashree Mahila Mandal actively participated in the event. Faculty clarified their doubts after the lecture. And after awareness gifts for the women’s were distributed.

Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi organized guest lecture on Adolescents Health on occasion of “World Adolescent Day” on 9/08/18 from 2.00pm 4.00pm in 2 nd Year B.Sc. Nursing Classroom. Prof. Dr. Sangeeta Kharde welcomed and introduced the Guest speaker Assoc. Prof. Sunil Kulkarni, Department of Community Health nursing, BVDU College of Nursing Sangali by offering rose sapling along with midwives Ms. Abbie, Ms. Emily From elective placement Norwich UK . Madam also said that Mr.Sunil Kulkarni has completed his PG from the same college in 2007. Guest speaker Assoc. Prof. Sunil Kulkarni spoke regarding Adolescents Health, their developmental stages, Health related problems and their management. Beneficiaries were 4 th year B.Sc. & PG from dept of OBG(N), Departmental staffs. Lecture came to an end with vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Uma Kole.

KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Department of OBG Nursing organized State level Continuing Nursing education program (CNE) on the topic “SAFE BIRTH PRACTICES FOR MOTHER AND NEWBORN” on account of International Midwives Day on 8th May 2018.
Total 84 delegates from Hubballi college of Nursing, Ankola college of Nursing, Govt School of Nursing Belagavi, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Staff Nurses from KLE’s Prabhakar Kore’s Hospital, KLE Yellure Hospital, Lakeview Hospital Belagavi, Goa Medical College and teaching faculty were present.

Dr. Sudha Raddi, Dean faculty of nursing and Principal, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi, Dr Sheela Potdar (MO Labor room), Mrs. Saroj (floor supervisor), nurse in charge and all staff nurses of maternity ward of K.L.E’ s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital, Belagavi were involved in the celebrationKAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi Department of OBG Nursing in collaboration with SOMI (Society of Midwives India) celebrated “World Safe Motherhood Day” in maternity ward of K.L.E’ s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital, Belagavi for the mothers admitted in postnatal ward on 10th April 2018 at 11.00 am.
Awarenesss was given to post natal mother by Mrs. Shubharani.M Asst Prof, Mrs. Nirmala Asst Prof, Mrs. Uma Kole Asst Prof and Mrs. Babita.P Senior Tutor of OBG Nursing department on various topics like Exclusive breast feeding. techniques,, positions of breast feeding, prevention of hypothermia in neonates,mothers actively participated and clarified their dobuts at the end of the lecture. Newborn baby clothes with baby powder were distributed to all the postnatal mothers of Maternity ward, free labor room. Total 78 mothers were the beneficiaries of the programme.

KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi.Department of OBG Nursing conducted Health Awareness Programme on “Menstruaton& self management”as a NSS Special camp at Govt Primary School, Badas on 17-02-2018 at 10.00 am. Lecturer was delivered by Asst.Prof. ShubhaMurgod,Dept of OBG Nursing on what is adolescence period and need of the selecting the topic. She also highlightedon magnitude of this problem worldwide and in India including Karnataka .Mrs. BabitaPatil Senior tutor, Dept of OBG Nursing started the session with meaning of menstrual cycle, menarche, physical and psychological symptoms and problems associated with menstruation. Mrs Shubharani S. Muragod, Asst ProfessorDept of OBG Nursing continued the session with management, Home remedies, menstrual hygiene and myths regarding menstruation. Total 68,7th& 8th standard female students with5 female faculties were the beneficiaries. At the end of the programme sanitory pads were donated to the school. All the students and faculties actively participated and clarified their bought at the end of the session.

On account of World Cancer Day KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, OBG (N) Department conducted Health Awareness Programme on Prevention of Cervical and Breast Cancer by distributing pamphlets in UHC of Rukmininagar and surrounding slum area Belgaum on 12/02/2018. Total beneficiaries were 160 women. Mrs. Uma Kole, Asst. Professor, Dept of OBG (N) and PG students of OBG (N) highlighted regarding importance of screening, regular health checkup, maintaining personal hygiene, prevention and warning signs of Breast and Cervical Cancer.

Department of OBG Nursing organized Guest lecture on “Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy and Its Management” on 17th January 2018. The lecture was delivered by Dr. JyothiSalunkhe, HOD and Professor from department of OBG Nursing, Krishna Institute of Nursing Sciences, Karad, Maharastra.
Total 76 B.Sc. Nursing students with departmental faculty and HOD were attended the guest lecture.
REPORT ON “HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ANTENATAL CARE"
KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Department of OBG Nursing, conducted Health Awareness Programme on Antenatal care at Rukmininagar, Belagavi on 9th November 2017. Distribution of pamphlets to all the pregnant mothers present in PHC Antenatal clinic followed by explanation about the diet to be taken during pregnancy, how regular to visit the hospital / clinic for checkup, to take rest for 10 hours a day , how exercise will help during labour and postnatal , importance of hygiene and institutional deliveries, individual approach was done by OBG Nursing Staffs and PG Students. Total 72 pregnant mothers were the beneficiaries.
REPORT ON AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “MENOPAUSE AND ITS SELF MANAGEMENT” (26TH SEPTEMBER 2017)
Department of OBG Nursing, KLEU’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi conducted health awareness programme on – “MENOPAUSE AND ITS SELF MANAGEMENT” for the female staffs at Jyoti P.U College, Belagavi on 26th September 2017. Asst Prof Uma Kole and Sr. Tutor H. Gineta Chanu, Department of OBG nursing delivered the lecture in Marathi and Hindi language from 4-5pm. Awareness was given on Menopause and its significance, how to handle physical and psychological changes; and self management of menopausal problems. Total 18 female staffs were beneficiaries. The staffs clarified their doubts after the lecture.
REPORT ON AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “PREVENTION OF ANEMIA AMONG ADOLESCENT GIRLS"
Department of OBG Nursing, KLEUs Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi conducted awareness programme on “PREVENTION OF ANEMIA AMONG ADOLESCENT GIRLS” at higher primary, Shri Sidharamashwar School Belagavi on 08 July 2017. 9th& 10th girl students of English medium were the participants. Senior tutor Mrs. Gineta and Senior tutor Mrs. Babita Patil delivered the lecture in English language from 3-4 pm. Awareness was created on anemia its significance, causes, incidence management how to handle physical and psychological changes, and self management of anemia. 50 girls students with 05 teaching faculty actively participated in the event (Total55). Students clarified their doubts after the lecture.

KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Department of OBG Nursing , conducted Health Awareness Programme on prevention of Breast and Cervical Cancer at Rukmininagar, Belagavi on 10th February 2017. Distribution of pamphlets to all women in reproductive age followed by explanation about the causes, warning signs & symptoms, importance of regular screening ,regularhealth checkup and prevention of Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancerat schools and home to home approach by OBG Nursing staffs and Students. Total 110 women in reproductive age were the beneficiaries.
NSS Unit and Department of OBG Nursing, KLE Academy Of Higher Education and Research’s Institute of Nursing Sciences organized role play on “prevention of female feticide” on 25th November 2016 at Al-Ameen Pre-University College, Azad Nagar, Belagavi.
The event was introduced by Dr. Soudagar, Medical Officer from Rukmini Nagar UHC, Belagavi. BSc (N) Ist year, IIIyear and IVyear students (Total 15) performed a role play on theme prevention of female feticide. Awarness was given regarding magnitude of this problem worldwide and in India, male : female ratio, empowrment of female child. Mrs.Shubhrani S.Muragod, NSS member of OBG Department and faculty Dept of OBG Nursing, KLEUs Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi Participited in the event. 96 female students and female faculties of D.Ed College, were the beneficiaries.
WORKSHOP ON “CARING FOR MOTHERS AND THEIR NEWBORNS: MIDWIVES ROLE” (22nd October 2016)
Workshop was hosted by Department of OBG Nursing of KLEU’s Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi, in collaboration with Society of Midwives India (SOMI) Karnataka Chapter and Johnson & Johnson.
The department provides with theoretical and practical experience to equip the students as competent midwives. We ensure effective and efficient care from our students by teaching them the comprehensive care in the field of maternity nursing and to create centre of excellence in Midwifery.
The department strives for excellence in education and practice to aid in midwifery care. The teaching is emphasized to develop understanding of evidence based maternal and child health care to conduct research activities.
The department mainly emphasize on providing quality nursing education and research activities to enhance quality of services to women and children in an ever changing health care environment.
