On Eve of International midwives day, department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Science, Belagavi organised a CNE on “Innovative Approaches in Maternal Health” for I year P.B. B.Sc Students, III year GNM students of KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Yallur and students of KAHER Institute of Nursing Science, Belagavi along with PG and P.hD students of KAHER Institute of Nursing Science, Belagavi on 9th May 2023. The CNE started with registration from 9am till 9.30am followed by a session by Dr. Arati. Mahishale, Professor, HOD Department of OBG Physiotherapy, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi. She delivered a lecture on Innovative Approaches in Antenatal care from 9.30 t0 10.15am.

The inauguration of CNE was conducted from 10.16 am to 11 am, all the dignitaries and resource persons were welcomed with the floral tribute. The Inauguration was done by watering the plant by the dignitaries. Dr. Veereshkumar Nandagoan, Principal KAHER Institute of Nursing Science, Belagavi addressed the gathering, followed by falicitation of Mrs. Asha Bhat, Associate Professor, Dept of OBG Nursing, for becoming General Secretory, of Society of Midwife India (SOMI). Mrs. Asha Bhat briefed the audience about SOMI and encouraged to be the member of SOMI. Mrs. Renuka Naikar, Assistant professor, Dept of OBG Nursing, BIMS, Belagavi shared her experience as midwife during the inauguration. The inauguration came to an end by unfolding the theme of International midwives day by Dr. Sangeeta N Kharde, Vice principal and HOD, Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Science, Belagavi i.e “Together again: from evidence to reality” and gave a keynote address regarding the program. The inauguration was winded up by vote of thanks by Mrs. Nirmala D’Souza followed by high tea.

The program was continued with sessions by Dr. Ashwini Narasannavar, Associate professor, Dept of public health, KAHER, Belagavi. She enlightened the participants on the topic “Innovative Approaches in family planning and maternal health”. The last session was conducted by Mrs. Renuka Naikar, Assistant professor, Dept of OBG Nursing, BIMS, Belagavi, she elaborated on the topic “ Respectful Maternity Care”. Total 150 students and faculty from KAHER Institute of Nursing Science, Belagavi and Yallur were benefited from the event. The students participated actively throughout the sessions. After the sessions, students were encouraged toask their doubts. The program ended at 12:50 pm.
