Department of Mental Health Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi organized a Workshop on “Assessment of Adolescents Mental Health” on 06 ^th August 2024 at KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi.

The welcome speech was delivered by Organizing Secretary Mrs. Sushma Patil, Assistant Professor, Department of Mental Health Nursing. Dr. Vinayak Koparde, Child & Adolescent Consultant/Associate Professor, Department of Psychiaty, JNMC, KAHER Belagavi was the Chief Guest for the workshop, Prof. (Dr). Veereshkumar Nandagaon, Principal, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi delivered the presidential remarks & emphasized on importance of assessment of mental well-being among adolescents predicts a range of high-risk behaviors and its impact throughout the life course. The inaugural function took place by watering the plant by the respected dignitaries.

Ms. Melira Fernandes and Priyanka Worth P.B.BSc II year students were the speakers for the workshop. Mr. Sangangouda Shanbhog, Asst Prof, Dept of Mental Health Nursing proposed the vote of thanks.

The first session was conducted by Prof (Dr). Veereshkumar Nandagaon, Principal, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi. He emphasized on developmental tasks of adolescence: Is a Period of Change. The second session was delivered by Dr. Vinayak Koparde, Child & Adolescent Consultant/Associate Professor, Department of Psychiaty, JNMC, KAHER Belagavi. He highlighted on various valuation tools used in Assessment of Adolescent’s Mental Health. The third session was taken by Mr. Sangangouda Shanbhog, Asst Prof, Dept of Mental Health Nursing.

He mainly focused on Hazards of Adolescence and Effects of Immaturity. Followed by this, the practical session on Application of assessment of issues and concerns of adolescence period was conducted by Dr. Manjunath Sogalad, Associate Prof, Department of Mental Health Nursing, KAHER, INS, Belagavi.

The beneficiaries were Nursing officers from KLE’s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and MRC, Belagavi. More than 40 participants were benefitted by the workshop.

The faculty members from Department of Mental Health Nursing were present.
