October 15 is marked as Global Hand washing Day, with the aim of increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of hand washing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives. The world has leveraged the lessons from the last three years since the coronavirus outbreak took a toll on everyone. As the world moves beyond COVID-19 to a new normal, it is time we accelerate hand hygiene progress to prevent any kind of infection, and it requires a collective effort to enact real change.

 In view of this year’s Global Hand washing Day. On 15  ^th October, 2023 the Department of Nursing Foundation KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, with the NSS Unit, raised awarenessregarding hand washing among school children of Government higher primary Marathi school, Bijagarni, Belagavi with the theme “Clean hands are within reach”. Dr. Ashok Kamat, Professor and HOD Nursing Foundation explained the keynotes of hand washing, Mr. Laxmikant B,& Mrs. LaxmiK, Ms. Snehal and Ms. Jwel demonstrated the steps of hand washing and Mr. Laxmikant proposed vote of thanks.

Hand washing pamphlets were distributed to the teachers and students.Total numbers of beneficiaries were 206.
