The Department of Mental Health Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences Belagavi, had organized a Seminar on topic “Childhood and Adolescent Psychiatric Disorders” on 16 th April 2026 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Total 200 students of 3 rd year B. Sc (N) were present for the seminar and were benefited. The Seminar was organized by 1 st and 2 nd Year M.Sc. Nursing Post Graduate students of the department. The seminar aimed to enhance knowledge and understanding of various psychiatric conditions affecting children and adolescents. The topics covered during the session included the Psychosocial and Psychosexual theories, Intellectual Disability (Mental Retardation), Autism and Childhood Schizophrenia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Conduct Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Tourette’s Disorder, and Separation Anxiety Disorder along with Learning disorder. In addition to the theoretical aspects, further it also focused on the treatment (Pharmacological intervention & Psychotherapies), management and nursing application in childhood psychiatric disorders, providing valuable clinical insights. The presentations were informative and engaging, helping the participants gain a deeper understanding of the subject. Overall, the seminar was successful in improving the knowledge and awareness of students regarding childhood and adolescent psychiatric disorders.
